Selecting pendant and linear lighting
Define the lighting role, proportions and installation scope together.
A suspended luminaire should be considered with the room, furniture and installation. A decorative pendant and a workplace linear system may share an overhead position while having different lighting and procurement requirements.
Lighting role and form
State whether the luminaire provides general light, light over a work surface or a decorative focus. Describe the intended form, material and finish. Confirm whether the offered product is suspended and what other installation formats are actually available.
Keep a style brief separate from performance requirements. A familiar shape does not establish that a historical design belongs to the current catalogue.
Dimensions and arrangement
Supply a drawing showing desks or tables, circulation, ceiling conditions and proposed luminaire positions. Review length, width and visual proportions alongside the furniture. Ask the project designer to establish the required suspension position and clearances.
Do not substitute a generic spacing or height rule for the room's design. Record the dimensions and accessories included in the quotation.
Distribution and controls
Request distribution data, output and colour information for the selected configuration. Review direct and any indirect components, source visibility and screen reflections. Confirm manual controls, dimming and any system integration separately.
For a whole workplace, use the office layout guide. Product data should support the project review rather than stand in for it.
Installation and approval
Define responsibility for suspension, fixing, power, controls and commissioning. Obtain product drawings and installation instructions for the selected assembly. The appointed installer should confirm the proposed arrangement and project requirements.
Keep the approved finish sample, model and document revision together. Confirm maintenance access and service arrangements. Explore current linear and pendant platforms, or send the layout for a configuration discussion.
